I had looked for a long time for an HD LCD TV. I was very reluctant to buy, as I wanted an excellent TV for a great price. We looked at many tv’s at all the typical stores and finally decided on Sony, as we have always had good lcuk with Sony. Then the big question, what size and what resolution. We took measurements and decided 37″ was just right for our room. Then the resolution. Had to be 1080p right, wrong. You don’t have to have the highest resolution all the time. The 1080 signals come in great in on the 720. Remember it is still an improvement over the CRT that you are upgrading from. Now where to buy the tv. Checked all around, watched Amazon for several weeks, noticed the price dropping and kept watching. Finally got to my price point and I bought. Next week the price went up by $150. Amazon delivered, arrived perfect and they set it up. It is AWESOME! I am extremely happy with my decision. I would do this over again. Now for the TV in the family room…..

We ordered a TV from amazon.com and were amazed at the service and the speedy delivery, with a phone call to set up the date for the delivery. The two gentlemen who delivered the TV were very polite and hooked up our new TV with our new DVD/VHS recorder, with little fanfare, at no additional charge (but, of course, we did give them a nice tip). I didn’t give the item a 5-star review because we haven’t yet gotten our HD service, so I can’t fairly rate the picture until that is in place.

We bought this Sony HD TV based on the comments here. We are very happy with the set. Glad we bought it, picture is wonderful. The Amazon free delivery and no tax is a great deal. We were totally satisfied with the Amazon White Glove Delivery service. Ordered the set on Friday Nite was delivered and set up on Thursday 8:15 am! Wow that was way ahead of the estimated time delivery amazon gave.

4 Stars Excellent TV for the price
I waited for sometime before writing this review.Did so because there were some reviews which said that the TV worked for a week and then it went down.

I have had this for 2 months now and let me say this is the ultimate viewing experience. Let me get to the Pros and Cons

Pros

* The biggest advantage is the number of input connections which it provides . There are 4 HDMI , 1 PC , 3 other external component input connections

* The Picture quality is ultimate. The best option to go with this TV is to take HD channels , max u can get is 1080 i , but still its good enough.

* There are various preset color combination modes provided like “vivid” , “cinema” etc and also u can set it to the custom mode if u want to. Watching football games in vivid mode is awesome.

* The other feature which I liked is u can have two inputs simultaneousy split on the screen . click options on remote and then choose P&P. I loved this feature because I have a PS3 and playing games and watching cable can be done simlataneously

* I would say if u have a PS3 or any blue ray player you will get the ultimate picture quality offered by the tv as the output of ps3/blue ray player is 1080p .

* Sound quality is good ,though I use an external system I like the sound from the TV.

Cons

* I thought that HDMI devices can be controlled from the TV as there are some options available but it is not so

* There could be some features provided where multiple channels can be watched on the TV .

This is definitely a good buy and highly recommended.

THIS SET HAS ALL YOU WILL NEED IN THE FUTURE WITH SOFTWARE UP AND LOTS OF INPUTS FOR ALL YOUR TOP NOTCH DEVICES. USE A DIGITAL AUDIO CABLE AND TURN YOUR LIVING ROOM INTO A CINEMA WITH EVERY TV PROGRAMS OR INFACT ANYTHING WITH AUDIO. GREAT VIDEO AS WELL ESPECIALLY USING HDMI 1080p, YOU CANNOT GET ANY BETTER THAN THAT.

2 Stars Great Except it was Broken out of the Box
When I ordered this TV I was so excited. It was a great deal and the perfect size. It was not actually for me but fora relative who didn’t realize how large this television was, so when it came I took it and gave her my old Sharp 32″ Aquos, an alright TV that served me well for a good two years. I was debating between one of the new LED Samsung’s or a Panasonic plasma’s. When this washere with no one to take I said why not and settled for lower quality. You can’t have everything. I was going to go with Samsung for this TV but I expected Sony to have better build quality, since they charge considerably more and have a good track record from what I hear (no PS3 problems for me yet). I moved my old 32″ Sharp Aquos and hauled the Sony out of the box, set up the the stand (which was very finicky), and plugged it in. The power light went green but the screen did nothing and all of the sudden the standby light blinked red twice. I called Sony support and they had me do a power reset, but no luck. They then gave me the number of a certified technician. I left a message and now I am stuck with a broken TV. We’ll see how good it is when it’s fixed but for now I am not impressed with Sony’s build quality. I am debating whether to get a replacement and/or different brand or stick it out and get it fixed. I’ll judge and update when the technician looks at it. It’s a shame though. It looks really, really cool in person.

We couldn’t be happier with our Sony Bravia 42 inch TV. It arrived quickly and the packaging was excellent. We took it out of the box, plugged it in and never even had to make an adjustment. The factory settings were perfect. We have been buying Sony products for a while now and will continue doing so. Also, the price was better than anything we could find locally. I would reccomend this TV to anyone in the market for this size. You can’t go wrong.

Had this TV for 2 month now. It’s perfect. I tried samsung, sharp, vizio, zenith, westinghouse, and this sony tv is the best of them all. It’s got the best dark level and i saw some dark details even my 23″ samsung and 32″ 1080p sharp doesn’t show.

extremely happy with this TV. Make sure you do your TV settings in picture “custom” (there are standard, vivid, custom, and cinema). i first use “standard” and it auto dim during dark scene which will loose dark detail. Custom does not auto dim backlight.

5 Stars Great Sony Picture Quality + white dot “sparkle” issue fixed
I just brought this TV and love love it. It was between this model and a Samsung model when I went looking. I had a lot of Sony products so I went with this model. I am so glad I did. We have another HD TV but the regular station look bland. Not withthis TV the regular stations look great and the HD station look even better. The TV has a guide which walks you through the steps to set it up which are very easy. I love this TV no regrets. It did cost a few hundred dollars more than some other brand models but well worth it. You won’t be sorry if you invest the extra money and get this TV.

Many folks are also complaining about the White dot (Sparkle) problem that can be seen during HDMI source playback at the top corner of the screen. Well it looks like Sony has fixed the issue through a simple software update for our TV. You simply have to either download the update to your USB flash drive or give Sony a call and they will mail you the USB flash drive with the update so you can connect it to your TV and update its software to fix this sparkle issue. As simple as that.

5 Stars quality doesn’t come cheap
After shopping around more than 3 month, I was in debate of samsung ln40a550 or kdl v4100. I went with sony ‘coz of reliability and 24p movie option. It sits next to my ps3. I had vizio before (i still do), wow what a quality difference while playing game or watching tv, movies. TV is rich in feature. Picture is very good and sound is not bad either.
