HDLCD, I don’t have HD service but the picture is just like HD with just a cable hook-up. I highly recommend this model.

4 Stars Perfect Stand for the KDS-50A2000, Shelf Height Could be better
Assembly was pretty straight forward, and when you’re all done with the TV on top … looks pretty slick. Strap in back secures TV, and cover in front does the same.
Due to support beams in back, my receiver had to go right in the middle on the 2nd shelf. Those same beams, could possibly get in the way of wiring on the top shelf if putting components two across. In fact, I need to get a couple of right-angle connectors in my case. There is also a chance since the glass is at an angle on the sides, that one foot of a componenent all the way to either side may not touch the glass. I also wish the top shelf was a little taller for stacking components.
Even with these quibbles, I am very happy with the stand, because the quality is very nice, and the end result looks great & feels solid.
5 Stars Great stand for a Great TV!
I recently purchased the Sony 50A2000 television and, after much consideration I decided to purchase the matching stand. I have to admit: Sony has impressed me again.
I’ll concede that the price seems a little high for something to set your TV on, but the attention to detail is impressive. The top of the stand includes a silver piece that makes the television appear to be slightly floating, hiding the base of the TV. The back of the stand also includes channels to hide your cables in–and they line up perfectly with the TV’s outputs. Every aspect of the stand was designed with safety in mind; I can’t see any way you could accidentally pull the TV off. It’s firmly attached. Sony also put a great deal of thought in to the packaging of this thing! Not only was every piece meticulously wrapped and packed, but they engineered the packing such that the pieces could be used to ease the assembly (frankly, without the packaging it would have been a challenge to put together by myself).
I have to disagree with one of the other reviews; I found the instructions extremely easy to follow and there weren’t very many pieces. I have put together other furniture before, this really was a snap.
The bottom line: if you’ve dropped the cash for a TV like the KDS-50A2000 (and presumably some decent HD components), don’t cheap out when it comes to where to put your new gadget. Do it right and get this stand.
5 Stars TV stand for Sony 50a2020 HDTV
This is a great stand. It is very well made with all holes aligning perfectly. There are two glass shelves to hold your DVD player and satellite
receiver etc. It uses large long bolts to hold the main weight bearing pieces together. It is nicely finished with no sharp edges. The only problem I see is the lower glass shelve protrudes a couple inches in front of the stand. Although the corners are round, it would be possible for a child to step on the corner of the glass and perhaps break it.

Definitely a nice stand. Sony discontinued the grey stand, which would’ve matched my HDTV perfectly, but the black stand is still nice. These stands are pricey at $349, but the TV locks into the stand and also a strap/clip clips to the back of the set for more safety and stablility.
5 Stars Perfect stand for the TV, but no fun to assemble!
This stand comes in a box with an extensive assortment of styrofoam and cardboard pieces. DON’T THROW THEM AWAY! Not until you have assembled the stand, because every single piece is used at different times to prop certain pieces up. Putting this thing together was a lot more complicated than I expected. Now that it is done, though, it looks great, and I have no doubts about it’s stability.

I found this at Big Lots for $4.00 Item # DC-129P
It works great any produces no streaks when applied with the included lint free shammy. I recommend this over other harsh cleansers. I use it on both my plasma and smaller lcd displays. Can’t think of a reason not to use this is you have small kids. I also noticed less dust collecting on the screen of our 34″ Samsung Tube Type television. Try it!

I tried this on my Sony 46″ and it did not do it’s thing. It left the screen with streaks. I also tried it on my PC CRT monitor and it left streaks as well. I went out and bought Monster’s ScreenClean and it was perfect. Like they say, you get what you paid for.

comparable to Monster screen cleaner at Best Buy, it was cheaper to buy and I didn’t have to go anywhere. Smells good too!

This is an incredible HD TV. Sony really produced a winner.
It is a beautiful piece of furniture with the glass surround and what a beautiful picture it produces, ( both HD as well as standard format)
Our neighbor viewed it and ordered one exactly like ours.
Our living room where this is placed is bright with outside light during daylight hours and the mat finish on Sony’s screen obscures this and plays extremely well.

Love this TV. Excellent HDTV video quality. Very good Standard picture (not many TVs of this size can do that). Initial TV configuration is not very straight forward, but once figured - picture is amazing. I wish all Sony products to be like that.

7/22/08:
Just going into week 7 of my new TV,the picture/display was gone. Sony repairman says he has to order a new FB1 mainboard. TV was always connected to a good APC line conditioner/ surge protector, so I doubt any external forces caused the failure. Retailer no help after 30 days, have to go through manufacturer warranty(cringe). 5 years ago, Sony demanded 3 attempts to fix my new home theatre receiver. That took 8 months and never was fixed. Only then did they ship a new unit. But that was 8 months without a unit! With 3K into this TV, I better not go through that again, but willing to bet I do.
8/6/08:
Well guess what. Sony replaces FB1 board today and presto, no picture! Now they will try 2 other parts that will take another 2 weeks to install with no guarantees they will fix problem. I guess no diagnosing here, just throw parts at it till something magically works. This TV sucks.And so does Sony. Here we go again. Needless to say, I don’t do Sony again in my lifetime. And I so wanted to watch the Olympic games on this set! No going to happen.
Buy something else!
1 Star Defective display panel.
This TV works fine for the first 4 months, then a vertical dead line appeared and propagated every day.
Called the Repair center and realized this is a typical problem for this TV. Now it is Olympic time and I have no TV to watch!
Simply DO NOT buy this TV. If you really want to give it a shot, buy it with extended warranty.
I am lucky since this TV broke down while still covered under warranty. If not, be prepared for another $2000+ for the display panel replacement.
BTW, as mentioned by someone before, SONY custom service is a disaster!

4 Stars You Cant Go Wrong….
Like many, I trolled the reviews of this set for a while and deliberated between this and the Samsung. I settled on the Sony for a few reasons:
Anti Glare Coating
Picture Quality seemed a little more natural
Style of the set
Brand name
Most people have read the technical aspects of the set - it performs very well. I have it hooked up to Comcast HD and the picture quality is excellent. You do need to calibrate the set so search the internet and get better settings than out of the box - but overall you will be amazed with the PQ.
The only reason I didnt rate it 5 stars is there is still some motion artifacts with the set. I consider 5 stars a perfect viewing experience, and this set comes close, but there is still work to be done.
HD Cable looks great
SD cable looks so-so
Blu-rays look AMAZING
PS3/XBOX 360/Wii all look awesome
4/5 - would buy again.

This set is gorgeous, and I don’t know why I waited so long to buy one.
The picture is truly unbelievable. The only negative was the set up, Maybe because my husband and I are over 50. If you are also, get someone to hook it all up for you. You will love it.
