5 Stars Exceptional TV
My old CRT TV in the bedroom finally broke, so the opportunity to get a new flat screen arose. I already own a large Sony LCD projection TV for the family room, so I am used to Sony’s dependability and quality. I was not disappointed with this new one at all. It looks even better than my 60 in LCD projection downstairs. Very bright and vivid picture. You won’t be disappointed with it at all.

5 Stars Awesome TV
Rec’d my TV a few days ago, so far I love it. Its my first flat screen so I’m quite impressed. Has great sound and beautiful HD. My only complaint is the stand, its not adjustable and the TV isn’t perfectly level, for the money it should be of course. I did my own little thing and adjusted it myself, stand doesn’t swivel either. Other than that so far I’m pleased:)

5 Stars Love it!!!!
I absolutely love this tv. The picture on HD is amazing. For the price and not being the top of the line XBR, it surpassed my expectations. I always buy Sony and will never buy any other brand.

1 Star Disappointed with Amazon
Sony Bravia V-Series KDL-42V4100 42-Inch 1080p LCD HDTV

This review refers to service as opposed to product. I am truly disappointed with my Amazon.com experience and want others to be aware of what purchasing from Amazon really means. I was purchasing a TV for a new place and found Amazon’s prices attractive. What really sold me on Amazon, however, was their so called “white glove” service and price guarantee. I needed someone to unpack the TV and put it on my media unit and Amazon’s white glove service promises they will do this. The reviews on their website related to delivery were excellent and were a major factor in my decision to order from them. I made a special point of making sure that I ordered from Amazon.com and not one of their vendors. Much to my surprise, when I received confirmation of my order, it was coming from a vendor in California instead of Amazon.com. Of course, I was unaware that vendors use other delivery services such as Fedex, and Fedex is not allowed to open boxes or help the customer to set anything up.

My other frustration with Amazon was the price guarantee. After reading reviews about how good Amazon was about honoring price guarantees, I felt confident that should the price drop, they would honor it. Well, the price did drop but when I contacted Amazon, they said that because it was a vendor, they do not provide any form of price guarantee. The delivery dates were not accurate either, and as a result, because I travel, I won’t be able to set up my TV until after the holidays.

Needless to say, the overall experience was awful, and I would never order items of this size and value from Amazon again. Order from a local company such as Best Buy and you will get your TV on time, get assistance with opening and positioning it, and get a real price guarantee.

5 Stars WOW!!
I cannot believe the “steal” price I got on this TV. I hooked it up with the Bravia surround system and it was too simple. The picture is amazing. At first we were a little concerned it would be too big for our small room but we were wrong.

5 Stars Excellent size for the bedroom
I was very impressed with all of the features and the picture is very clear and the colors are vivid. It was very easy to set up and connect to my HD satellite receiver, DVD player and even my old VCR.

5 Stars Excellent Quality for a Great Price!!!!
I bought this TV during Black Friday for my girlfriend from TigerDirect through Amazon. Let me just say I have yet to find anyone match the price I paid for this Sony 32″ LCD TV. This includes online stores and the retail stores including a Sony Outlet. The picture is crisp and setup was literally less than 7 minutes. In no time I was receiving amazing pictures from my satellite receiver. I can’t wait to hook up my Blu-Ray DVD player. For the price you can’t get a better quality HDTV and hey….It’s a SONY!!!!!

5 Stars Perfect HDTV for bedroom or 1st HDTV
I wanted a larger TV to replace the old 22″ 720P HDTV I had in the bedroom, but I couldn’t justify spending a huge amount of money. I’ve been checking prices and comparing TV’s for about 2 months. At this screen size, I can’t tell the difference between 720P and 1080P. I got this TV on sale at Thanksgiving for the exact same price as some other lesser brands at the same size. I think it is the perfect TV for the bedroom. The sound is decent and the picture is fantastic. Plus, it’s a Sony product, so I am MUCH more comfortable about the quality than some of the no name brands I see in this price range. Through my job, I know Sony has extremely demanding quality standards. This means fewer problems and lower failure rates. I’ve read of people buying a no name “doorbuster” and then buying an extended warranty because they were nervous about it. For about the same price, you can get this TV, the quality of the Sony name and a good warranty. I also already own a Sony 50″ 1080P LCD TV, I’ve had it for a year, never had any problems and love it also. The TV remote is basic, but that is fine with me.

5 Stars WOW!
My first HDTV! I waited until the prices came down to earth and this Sony was more than reasonable in the price. The picture with widescreen HD content is unreal–saw National Geographic HD show was blown away! This is one tv with style–has a clear glass panel with the indicator lights “floating” in it! I do not know how Sony did this? It is much better looking than the Sony Bravia M-Series KDL-32M4000! Standard def content is okay–but that is not the TV fault. One should really opt for a HDTV cable box or you can use the “QAM” tuner which picks up Hi-Def signals right from the cable feed! Hi-def content will amaze you!

The viewing angle is is indeed 178 degrees–only issue might be the picture is somewhat washed out from the side–but still watchable! This size “32″ is the prefect all-around size–can be used as a small main tv and what a bedroom TV! This Sony is replacing a trusty Sony 27 inch Trintron and this tv screen is like a movie screen by comparison! Bravo Sony!

5 Stars Great
I really lucked out, I got this TV at the LOW price of $495.00 at 1 A.M. on black Friday. I don’t know if that’s the reason for the price drop but this is the lowest price I have even seen this TV around. The TV came quick only took a week. Free shipping ( can’t go wrong with that ) I think this is a good TV for a smaller room. It’s also a great starter TV. In my opinion I think the 720p is not bad, I don’t have HD yet and the picture is still nice. The sound is not bad either I know some people are weird about TV and the sound quality, this sound is shockingly good and it works for me. Later I will be getting a sound system and what not, but I am in no rush. I will make sure to post an update when I get HD, and what not. PS3

5 Stars Best Buy In along time!
Hands down this is one of the best buy’s I have made for enhancing my game and movie experience! I’m trying to think of something I don’t like about this TV and nothing comes to mind!

5 Stars sony lover
I find this product top notch. Easy to setup an use.Connected to my satellite reciever with hdmi cable beautiful picture, color an detail. M 3rd SONY TV 2ND HI-DEF 50″ in greatroom. this in our bedroom.Great tv.

5 Stars Brava!
I bought this TV for my husband and he loves it. Amazon had the best price on the internet I will always check Amazon first when I am considering buying on-line.

5 Stars Great product at a great price!
Arrived safely before promised delivery date. Setup was a breeze. Picture quality on digital channels outstanding, analog channels better than previous analog TV (12 year old Sony). I was concerned about picture quality (for example drop-outs on digital channels) because although we are on cable, this particular outlet had been split into three therefore giving weak signal. But the digital channels are incredible. Price I paid was much lower than best offers from Best Buy and Circuit City.

5 Stars 32 Inch Sony 720p
This is simple enough. Sony/Amazon kept reducing the price on this set, and I grabbed it at a figure considerably below the usual electronics retail stores. It was to be installed in a small sitting room. It arrived one day before predicted. The shipper brought it upstairs, unpacked it, plugged it in and from that point forward, it’s been a joy to watch. Still working on setting up the various menu options, but I’m highly pleased, and…oh yes, the quality of HD programming is fantastic, as is the image from my Sony BluRay DVD. All in all, I’m very satisfied with this purchase.

4 Stars Great TV for the Price, with Picture Adjustments included.
After my previous 42″ Plasma went out on me after only 2 years of working, I decided I was done with Plasma and wanted an LCD. I play alot of games and wanted to use the tv as a monitor. LCD is the best choice for this. I new I didn’t need the top of the line TV, just something that would work and work well. I finally decided on a Sony. I bought it from a local store for a good price, took it home and easily set it up. Upon checking the menu I found it very easy to use and I like how it is off set, not right in the middle of the screen. It makes picture adjustments alot easier.

The Remote is descent, I’m not remote crazy, so as long as it does what I need it to I don’t really care.

I had 2 major problems, however. First up, I couldn’t get the optical out to work for the life of me. I tried everything and I’m a fairly tech savy guy. The second thing is clouding/Panel inconsistencies. This was a huge problem. I had two cloudy patches on the panel when watching TV at night. Whenever there was a dark scene the cloudy patches stuck out like a sore thumb. It was driving me crazy. After talking to Sony tech support (which wasn’t bad, but not great) they said I needed a repair. Well, the TV was only 1 day old, so I simply packed everything up and returned for a brand new TV. After setting everything up AGAIN, I fired it up praying this panel wasn’t as bad. The answer: it was great. NO clouding, NO inconsistencies. I still haven’t tried out the optical out though. But this second TV is GREAT. Don’t be put off by the “low” contrast ratio of 2500:1. It has darker blacks then any other LCD I looked at in this price range. The color’s are nice with a descent amount of options to adjust the picture. Not as many as a Samsung or the next level up Sony’s, but enough for me. HD is great. A few times I’ve noticed some slight pixelation, but I think it’s my cable provider not the TV, because I don’t notice anything when using the xbox360. The sound is great. I’ve read alot of reviews about these new TV’s skimping on the speakers, but not on this one. Very good sound. Standard Definition I would rate as Good. Nothing special, I don’t think it “enhances” it at all, so it’s going to be a little grainy depending on your signal. Overall, very happy with this TV.

Pro’s:

Excellent HD picture

Sound

Menu (if you like a simplistic menu)

3x HDMI

Optical Out

CON’s:

Some panels have clouding. Turn on the TV to an empty input, turn up the backlight all the way and turn the lights off in your room. If you can see “cloudy” patches on your panel - RETURN IT FOR A NEW ONE.

Doesn’t have as many Picture adjustments as a Samsung.

Doesn’t enhance Standard Def.

Overall:

Great TV for the price range.

Picture Settings:

Here is just what I have. It is at least someplace to start with!

BACKLIGHT: 7

PICTURE: 72

BRIGHTNESS: 63

COLOR: 61

HUE: 0

COLOR TEMP: NEUTRAL

SHARPNESS: 2

NOISE REDUCTION: High (your preference, I can’t tell a difference)

Then just fine tune to your liking!

4 Stars Bigger, Heavier, but better
I received my Sony Bravia S-Series KDL-46S4100 within 4 days including a weekend. I was surprised I would get it this early since I got standard shipping and was expecting it a week later. Don’t worry the delivery guy calls you to make sure you are home. Since I work 9 to 5, I asked them to deliver after 6 and they got here by 7.

Anyway, the TV is HUGE. I am replacing a 32 inch Westinghouse LCD HDTV for my family room and I love the size of this Sony. What I noticed immediately was that I needed to buy a new TV stand to hold the size and weight of the new one.

The sound quality is amazing especially when hooking it up to sony bravia home theater system. As for the picture quality- It is really nice. I sit about 8 feet away and can still notice some graininess on some channels though- regular and a few HDTV channels. I might need to play with the picture settings though.

The remote is basic and simple but its OK for whatever controls you need since most people will be using their cable provider’s remote anyway.

Overall, I am very happy with the purchase especially since I got a great deal from amazon!

4 Stars Decent TV
Amazon had the lowest price on this TV at the time, a couple weeks before Thanksgiving. It is a decent TV, however I wish I would’ve gotten the 120Hz model. There is a little bit of fuzziness with action scenes, especially in football games. Besides that, the HD clarity is great, and the standard def channels are great too. I think the sound quality is quite good too.

5 Stars Great TV!
Great picture, great sound. A solid TV! The HD picture and DVDs are outstanding. The standard definition quality varies by channel. Some are very good–as good as my old CRT. Some are not as good, but even the worst aren’t objectionable.

The TV takes 8-10 seconds to display video after being powered on. I don’t turn it on and off freqently so that’s not a big deal. Sometimes when changing channels between standard definition and high definition there can be a 2 or 3 second delay.

I compared the S Series and the W Series side-by-side at Circuit City and could not see much difference. I decided to save a few hundred dollars and in my opinion got a great TV that does not disappoint.

Pros:

* Great HD picture/good standard def picture.

* Good sound.

* The menu and setup are intuitive

Cons:

* Takes 8-10 seconds to display video when turned on (not a big deal).

* Can take 2-3 seconds to display picture when swithing between channels of different resolutions (from 480i to 1080i)

Note about shipping: I did not factor shipping into my product rating, but FYI, I had no problems with the white glove shipping by CEVA. If you track the order it can be a little frustrating. They don’t update as frequently as UPS and the routing seems odd. BUT, they scheduled delivery for the day Amazon estimated (a little over 1 week). I called and asked if I could pick it up instead and they were very polite and accomodating.

4 Stars Great TV
This is the first time I ordered something big online. My old TV was broken a week before Thanksgiving, so I selected this TV and ordered on Nov. 26, It arrived on Dec. 1, it’s really fast, and they did great job, the delivery guy helped me to take the old TV down and unpacked the new one and put it on my TV stand.

The TV is good, I like the picture. I agree with others that the power on time seems to long, about 15 second, and channel changing time is 2-3 second, I haven’t found other problems yet.

4 Stars Great Product, Terrible Shipping Experience
The XBR is more or less the “Mercedes” of the TV industry, while everyone else compares their product to the Sony, it remains the pinnacle of the LCD game. I looked at both the Samsung and the Sony, both were spectacular. In fact, Samsung makes the screen for the Sony, so it makes sense they are the same. Bottom line, there is simply more “coolness” to the Sony name.

The TV is great, but Amazon’s white glove shipping stinks. I bought the product, and it sat on several docks for days, finally got through to the shipper, scheduled for Saturday. But guess what? no TV. Have to schedule multiple times - I guess free shipping implies “worthless”. The drivers are late, never call back, and all you get is an answering service. I would have bought this product somewhere else if I had known….

5 Stars WOW!!!!!!!!!
Can’t beat a SONY TV for picture or sound quality. I’ve been in the market a long time, waiting for the XBR6 to fall in price (not ready to fork out money for an XBR8 quite yet) and the second it fell below 1500, it was a steal. I challenge anyone to find an LCD with a clearer, crisper picture and with a better sound quiality. You won’t find it! FANTASTIC and Amazon’s white glove service was amazing and efficient!

4 Stars Almost Perfect : > /
When the price of this Sony dropped to $1429, I jumped on it, when it launched it was $2299, not that long ago either.

I got my XRB-6 two days ago, the picture quality is amazing! I have never seen colors so vibrant and clear.

I must say though, like I read about clouding issues with other Sony sets, well to my disappointment, it’s true, when the screen goes black, there are visible clouds, it’s not really a big deal, but since I’ve been reading about this problem for some time, I would have expected Sony to correct it. Not sure if I’m going to keep this set or not, other than that it’s close to perfection, just not sure I can live with this defect or not.

My previous set was a cheap Polaroid 37″ 1080i, it had no clouding issues though, this problem seems to be exclusive to Sony.

Gonna try to adjust the settings, this set has many controls to adjust settings, and there is a control where you can reduce the backlight, which is what is causing this problem.

Right now though, I have very mixed feelings, I never had a problem with a Sony before, so I expect perfection.

Will update after I make the adjustments to see if it helps any.

Update: I made adjustments to the backlight control, if you lower the setting 3 levels, and turn the tv to power save mode, the clouding issues are mostly gone, but your overall picture is much darker, a trade off for getting rid of the clouds.

My clouding issues were not too bad, other owners reported clouding covering 50% or more of their screen, my clouding was minimal, sets with this problem seem to have different levels of clouding.

Bottom line, I’ve decided to keep the tv, the pros far outweigh this minor issue.

I can’t help but wonder if the XBR-8 priced at 5 grand has this problem too.

5 Stars Wonderful TV! - Great USB connection feature to view photos
I have waited almost 6 years to buy a TV and this TV was all worth the wait!! Not only the HDTV broadacat is beautiful but also the USB connection to view photos taken on the camera is absolutely fantastic! I was very impressed and totally happy with the TV. Thank you Sony for making this wonderful TV!

5 Stars Amazing Picture Quality
The picture quality is absolutely amazing and Amazon had a super price discount as well. The white glove service is average. I think Amazon should collect customer feedback on quality of delivery service.

The product is well worth the price. Nothing comes close in comparison in picture quality.
