5 Stars great tv fun to watch the movie cars on with grandson
i bought this tv when my husband went hunting . he had no idea and when he came home he could not believe how wonderful this set is. it had great picture sound everything. highly recommend to all

5 Stars Glad I held out for Black Friday & a Plasma
I like many other first time buyers of a flat panel tv, was thinking of buying something in the 32-37″ size and lowest price. Then I read some reviews & settled on either Samsung, Sony Or Toshiba in this size range because of the reviews.. I checked out the stores on several trips & could not decide, except on staying with the three brands in that size. On Black Friday, I almost decided on a 32″ Toshiba for $449.00, but I waited til Sat. so my sons could go with me. I had discovered that for @ $800.00 I could get a 40″ 1080, or for $900.00 I could get a 42″ plasma 1080. After I showed them my choices, I got a go ahead for the Panasonic plasma. I really like the on-set controls at the bottom in the front under a door like the tv I already am used to. I liked the SD slot, and the many connection options. LCD was brighter on a side by side comparason, but the great color of plasma won out. These are back up to @ $1100.00 & I am so glad I got mine that weekend. My new U-verse is hooked up & I am very happy with this set. One thing I did not know about plasma was that you could not lay it on it’s side to take it home. Luckily , my son had an SUV that would carry it upright. I highly recommend this set.

5 Stars This, is the tv that made me convert from LCD
This is my third HDTV I had in the past year and a half. I bought a Olevia 232v lcd last summer and decided to upgrade the brand and size and got the Samsung a530 40 inch lcd tv. It was great tv but then I saw this go on sale for the same price $900 and since it was 2 inches bigger I figured I would take a look at it….WOW. Once I saw the picture it had I was surprised it was being sold below $1500 and returned my Samsung after owning it for 2 weeks (where it was calibrated).

This tv has amazing black levels (mainly because its a plasma) and the colors and black levels look much better and realistic than the Samsung did. The tv tuner pics up the channels with stunning quality when compared to most tvs. Playing shooting games and Rock Band on this is amazing with no lag whatsoever and watching blu-rays on it makes me know every penny was well spent. If you want the best tv out there when it comes to picture and reliability get this tv! The only reason to not get this tv is if you cant lift 70lbs.

5 Stars Excellent TV With a Stunning Picture
I recently bought the 42PZ80U for $899 and I’ve been using it for about 2 months. I think it’s an excellent buy even around $1000.

Picture:

I was a little skeptical of the virtue of plasma’s over LCD’s because, in those white-washed, warehouse stores, the difference in contrast looks to be negligable. I was wrong. This set produces outstanding blacks. I have another LCD in the house and I didn’t know what I was missing. Contrast ratio on this set is very, very good. Blu-Rays on my PS3 look amazing. I just watched “The Incredible Hulk” and I was SHOCKED at how good it looked. It is unbelievable what this 1080p set can do with the right content. There is far more detail in 1080p than there is in 720p. In the short amount of time I’ve had the Viera, I’ve viewed almost everything I could: sports, news, sit-coms, dramas, HD, SD, Blu-rays, DVD’s, video games, computer games, PC use. It crushes almost everything you throw at it with ease. (I say almost because of problems using it as a computer monitor, see below) Also, the screen itself is glossy, not matte like some LCD’s. Personally, I’ve always prefered the deeper color and slightly more glarey picture of glossy screens over the more-washed out, less reflective matte screens. The Viera has an anti-reflictive coating (aparently) and it does help with glare a lot, at least compared to glossy laptop screens, and TV’s I’ve seen. I have a window behind my seat and I really can’t say I’ve been bothered by reflections at all.

Sound:

First of all, I didn’t expect much of anything from a flat-screen. I have a (rather modest) home theater system and I know better than to expect built-in speakers to compete with a sound system. That said… the speakers are terrific! The sound is full (plenty of bass) and it gets LOUD without distorting. In “Hulk” explosions were booming, ricocheting bullets were crystal clear, and it wasn’t even at half-volume. I won’t be giving up my dedicated surround system for movies and parties and such, but most of the time I’ll be comfortably relying on the Panasonic’s speakers.

Features:

Well, the on screen menu is very good. Not exceptionally pretty or groundbreaking, but it’s better than any of the TV’s I’ve had in the past (except that the useless “Vierra Link” is first up on the menu). The remote, functionally, is not bad, but it is pretty ugly, and a TV at this level should have a universal remote. I would have liked picture-in-picture, but no-one in this class has PIP, so I won’t fault it there. SD card slot is a nice feature, but it doesn’t pan or fade or anything, so I’ll stick to Windows Media Center if I want a slide-show. I also give points for including an input button on the front of the TV with the standard CH, VOL, so you don’t have to find the remote every time you want to switch between cable and Playstation. Also, a front HDMI input is nice but I have major problems with the back inputs (again, see below).

Other:

I bought this TV partially for use as a computer monitor, since I’m paying for a 1920×1080 screen. It doesn’t have a VGA input, which is a bummer for most people who want to use it with their laptop. I don’t mind since my desktop will work with a DVI-HDMI cable. Kinda. First of all, this set isn’t exactly pixel-perfect. I assume this is an issue generic to plasmas of any brand, but small text is slightly blurred and difficult to read. It’s not that big of a deal since color is more accurate than an LCD for programs like Photoshop. The bigger and more unforgivable problem is with the inputs. The second day I had the TV, it wouldn’t turn on and the power LED kept blinking. I thought it was broken. A little internet research told me that the back two HDMI ports don’t work with computers: if you try to power-on the TV while the computer is already on and plugged in, something in the TV keeps it from turning on. You have to a: plug it in the front port (obnoxious and unsightly) or b: buy an HDMI repeater/extender. (This information was gathered from an internet forum). I’m probably going to buy the repeater, as I currently have it plugged in on the front of the TV and I hate it. This is absurd and inexcusable. Just be warned about these issues if you want to use it as a monitor.

Also, plasmas are generally more power hungry than LCD’s. I don’t have a wattage meter or anything but according to tests I’ve read, this set is on par with most 42″ LCD’s and has a very low standby power rating. Excellent work, Panasonic.

I know I went into great detail over the flaws, but overall, I’m extremely happy with my purchase and continually impressed by the picture I get. Excluding those really needing a computer monitor, I would recommend the Panasonic 42PZ80U to anyone.

5 Stars Awesome TV Awsome Service!!!! A TRUE 10!!
I must say that when I ordered this TV through Amazon I might have been a little reluctant. I did comprehensive research on this TV against a comparable Samsung unit. I decided to go with this TV simply because it was $700 dollars cheaper with the same specs. I received my TV yesterday plugged it in and did some personal adjustments to the color for about 5min and was BLOWN away at the quality of the picture. It looks amazing. Our couch is about 10ft away from the TV and there is no loss of picture quality at all. The unit is SILENT and does NOT get hot what so ever. I ran the TV for 8hrs and it did not even feel warm. A must have for your living room. The “White Glove Service” was AWESOME. They set the appointment and gave me a window of 12pm to 6pm. The TV was set up on the stand at 12:30pm. I will definitely make more purchases on Amazon.com. BUY THIS TV!!! YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED!

5 Stars VieraTH 50″ 1080p 50PZ85U
You don’t know me from Adam but I will tell you that this TV is the best plasma ever manufactured and Amazon has the best price ANYWHERE!! I researched televisions for almost 3 years before making an HD TV purchase. Panasonic plasmas have what the industry refers to as, “True Mirror Image.” LCDs are good televisions but they can’t touch the way in which the visual picture is represented with life-like tones and ultimate clarity on this plasma.

The highlights from my research are as follows:

1. This television has a viewing life of 100,000 hours. This is the highest rating among all televisions (LCD and Plasma alike). Samsung and Sony only rate their televisions at approximately 65,000 viewing hours

2. Panasonic has the lowest return rate as well as maintenance issues (for the past 5 years) - As listed in 3 out of the 4 major Consumer Electronics reporting guides

3. There is no major glare issue and I have it in a well lit room. When the tv is on there is no more glare than my old tube television

I could go on an on about this television but have to get back to work ASAP. Bottom-line is that this tv is so FRIGGIN’ amazing that I just purchased the 42″ of the same model series from Amazon for my upstairs bedroom and I’ve only had my 50″ for over a month now.

GO BUY THE TV from Amazon (but make sure it’s through their “White Glove Delivery” service because it comes straight from them.

Best electronics purchase I’ve made in the past 10 years.

Merry Christmas everyone!

5 Stars top pick for a reason
I researched HDTV’s before deciding on this one and I was not disappointed. I could not be happier. Friends who also have HDTV’s comment that my picture is better than theirs! I like this TV so much I also bought the Panasonic Blu-ray DVD player.

5 Stars GREAT PICTURE! GREAT PRICE! GREAT DELIVERY!
I just got my new panni plasma yesterday and I have to say it is a great plasma for the money! I’ve done enough research over the past couple of months, you’d think I was searching for the lost Ark! But, it helped alot in picking the right set. I watched ” the incredible hulk” last night on blue ray and it was awsome! Picture quality is really good and its not even calibrated yet. Standard tv is ok, but after watching HD its hard to go back! The sound is pretty good also, except for high volume. All in all, I am very pleased with this plasma and with the service with Amazon!

Panasonic TH 58PZ850U - 58″ VIERA plasma TV - widescreen - 1080p (FullHD) - HDTV

Absoluely perfect! There’s no other way to describe my purchase with Amazon. The price was the most competitive. The ordering process was seamless. The delivery via CEVA was completely professional. The TV arrived in perfect condition and the CEVA team carefully unpacked and setup my TV.

5 Stars Outstanding TV
I wholeheartedly agree with the reviewer who ranked this just below the Kuro in quality. The picture is simply outstanding. Make the adjustments noted below, pop in ‘Sin City’ and prepare to be amazed.

5 Stars The best!
I ordered this direct from Amazon. I make it a point to buy directly from Amazon as they are then responsible for returns etc.. Never had a bad experience with Amazon and this purchase was a great example.

First, the Amazon “white glove” boys were just perfect. They called a week ahead to set up a time, called when they were 20 minutes away from my home, arrived there right at the agreed time, unpacked the unit and put the stand on and placed it on top of the cabinet where it belonged. Then they waited 5 minutes as I hooked it up to make sure it worked. Took away the trash and departed. Couldn’t ask for more.

Setup was extremely easy. I had read some of the other reviews and had the recommended tuning for my TV room. We have windows along one wall and I had worried about reflection . . . shouldn’t have as there wasn’t any. Could be because the light is coming in through trees and is softened already.

The picture just blows you away. I got to watch Oklahoma beat OSU and then watch them win the Big 12 in HD. You could see the sweat on the players faces, the individual strands of grass when they zoomed in, the seams on the ball . . . I could go on and on, but this is the best picture I have seen on any TV ever. I have it hooked up to a Denon 988 and we watch our Netflix selections upscaled to 1080p by the Denon. Really clear and detailed. The clarity and level of detail is far beyond the big LCD’s that we had tried. I can see why Plasma is the way to go for the big screen. It is worth every penny and the whole family agrees that the 50″ would have been too small.

I have no negatives whatsoever.

5 Stars Shhh…don’t wake me, if this is but a dream :-)
After about four weeks of researching, we settled on the

TH-58PZ800U 58″ Panasonic. Reviews here, elsewhere and the

fact that this model was the CNET Editor’s Choice for October

08, finalized our decision. Not to mention, that several

commented it was almost as perfect as the Kuro, which is way

beyond our price range.

We put together a new home theatre system, from the ground up,

with the Panny as the showstopper, a ONKYO TX-SR806 7:1 Channel

receiver (which we also purchased through Amazon/see review) and

Aperion speakers (which will blow your mind, btw). We have HD/DVR

and a PS3 for gaming and Blu-ray. A wonderful combination!

When that last speaker wire was connected, all the HDMI’s were

re-checked for contact, the remotes were loaded with batteries

and the “ON” buttons were pushed, I entered a parallel,

universe—one where I saw and heard spectacular performances

that far exceeded all my expectations. And, everyone we have

introduced our system to has had the same jaw-dropping experience.

Heck, I even like to look at this TV when it isn’t even on. It’s

all black exterior, has an elegance all on its own.

Yes, this has been a magical, dreamlike experience…one I’m

proud to share with those that might be in the market for a

Plasma TV in this price range. It is simply a beautiful TV!

And, if you’re leery about making such a purchase on-line, don’t

be. They’ll handle the details, while you’re tracking and

preparing for delivery, from the comfort of your own home. And,

you’ll be saving a bit of money, too. I’d do it all over again,

in a heartbeat!

5 Stars Awesome Television
This TV replaced a 50″ Panasonic Plasma and has not disappointed one bit. The intense balck levels and color reproduction Panasonic is known for are all there and the THX mode truly provides a pre-calibrated movie viewing experience for a dark room. The Custom settings allow easy switchback for standard TV viewing and lit environments.

The panel itself is sleek and beautiful. The glass is much less refelective than my older model and the uniformity of the picture at even the widest angle is fantastic.

This is truly a high end TV for a mid range price. Buy with confidence

Panasonic TH 42PHD8UK 42 Inch Plasma HDTV Monitor

When set up for portrait display, this 42-inch plasma display is similar in size and aspect ratio to a movie-size poster. Use it as a moving image poster. Or upgrade the system with a scheduling function that displays content according to the correct time zone, and use it as a digital signboard.

User Ratings and Reviews

5 Stars Love this Panasonic TV!!
We have had this TV for 5 months now and LOVE it!! It has stunning color, amazing clarity and is very simple to use and install. We studied the reviews and chose this one for both it’s size and it’s cost. We could not be happier with our purchase.

5 Stars Perfect
I bought this tv like year ago and I can tell you that is the best image I have seen from plasma and lcd. Very sharp and incredible color. 100% recommended.

1 Star Great TV when it works
Great TV. Picture is awesome. Enjoyed it when it was working. Needed repairs at 15 months (not under warranty) Cost $700. Needed repairs again for same issue at 18 months (three months later). Another $700 projected. Decided to replace TV

4 Stars Missing a few things
I just got this TV 3 days ago. It provides a beautiful crisp image. Navigating the menus is sometimes a bit of a problem, as they’re not set up as intuitively as a lot of TVs I’ve owned.

My only real complaint would be the initial set up of the TV. I pulled it out of it’s box, and only then did I realize (my fault probably) that it doesn’t come with a stand. Because of that, and because no store near me carried the stand designed to work with that TV I had to get a wall mount. So the TVs price is TV + Stand. And depending on what you want to use the TV for you’ll have to get adapters. I went to plug in my R/G/B cables from my X-Box 360 and they wouldn’t fit. The R/G/B cables on the TV were for BCN or something like that. So I had to go and buy the adapters for that. Five of them to get full usage of the TVs ports. So price is now TV + Stand + 5 RCA-BCN converters. And theres no place on the TV (that I could find) to plug in regular cable television. I have no idea what kind of converter I’m going to get for that, but I’m sure theres one out there.

If none of that bothers you though, then get the TV. It really is the best image/size/quality that you’ll get for this price.

5 Stars Still Satisfied 18 months later
I have this TV for almost a year and a half and have no complaints. I bought the optional HDMI and DVI add-in boards and they work perfectly with my home theater PC and cable box.

One thing to remember is that this model has fewer inputs than the consumer models, it does not have an internal tuner or speakers either. So keep that in mind if it matters to you. For me I don’t need these extras, plus this model is easier to tweak than the consumer models.

At this point though you may want to upgrade to the TH-42PHD9UK. It’s cheaper and one generation newer.
