5 Stars Impressive so far
I’ve only had this set for about a day, but I am very impressed. (Hope I don’t “jinx” myself too early.) I spent a good 2-3 months researching flat screens, and this one seems to be almost universally hailed as a great product. Amazon dropped the price nearly $80 in one night so I placed my order, even though I was sure they would lower it again. And they did, but no big deal. The free delivery was nearly flawless and setup was easier than I anticipated. The delivery guys set up the set and were out of here in about 10 minutes. The picture quality is great, and I am astounded at how much more I enjoy even older movies. My only complaint at this point is that it seems the extended warranty from Panasonic costs a lot more and offers much less than the plan offered by Amazon. I opted for the four year plan offered here, and hope I don’t have to use it.

4 Stars Great TV here are the lows.
The glass panel creates a double image from some angles, and it might be the quality of the video but some pixalization is still visible. newer stuff on blu-ray looks phenomenal.

5 Stars Merry Christmas!!! 2008
I’m not a TV geek, but after researching as much as I could on line, and stopping in a couple of stores to make some comparisons, I couldn’t be happier with the choice I made. The color is excellent, the blacks are defining, the size is perfect for the space. But what caught my attention the most was listening. With the TV on in the other room while preparing dinner I was listening to what my husband was watching. The sound was different than the antiquated set we had and reminded me of being at the movies. High def makes football games feel like you’re in the stands. My son loves it! We’re all extremely pleased.

5 Stars Highly recommended
As always, I looked over the low ratings and two mention motion blur. Quite honestly, I have no idea what these people are talking about. Plasma by nature handles fast refreshing and motion blur is a problem with LCD. That is exactly why I did not by an LCD and bought a plasma (not to mention fabulous blacks and contrast). It’s too bad these people didn’t investigate other much more likely sources for this problem - cable or satellite feeds, connections, cables… I am 100% sure there problem has nothing to do with the set.

For two months I have had this TV and it has met all my expectations and alleviated any fears or worries. Plunking down so much for a TV is a big gamble. I hesitated for some time on so many sets, but now that I did it I am very happy.

Advantages: price, contrast, colors, better picture than any LCD under $2500

Disadvantages: electrical consumption, worrying about burn in even though it is no longer anything to worry about!

5 Stars Great TV, Great price, Great service!
This is our third Panasonic TV. This one is for my office (32″LCD) The others are a 42″ plasma (bedroom) and a 50″ plasma (family room). The quality of these TV’s are the best I have seen. No problems with any of them. We now have the whole family hooked on them. The price of my 32″ was great. $200. less than anything I could find around town. The servers was great as well. Had it here within one week.

5 Stars Good TV for the price
Pros: Good picture, lots of inputs. Works well with my PC (DVI to HDMI cable). Cons: Gets a little hot. Menu kinda sucks. When you turn on the TV it doesn’t go to the active input. You have to scroll with the remote everytime. Sound is ok, but i never expect too much from TV speakers. For the price this is a better choice than a Panasonic, imo. I’ve had it for 3 months now. Amazon white glove delivery was great.

5 Stars Amazing tv
Ive had this tv for a couple of weeks now and I am extremly satisfied. The color is amazing, and the blacks are deep and rich. And for the price you wont find anything comparable. I did a lot of research before this purchase and everything I read pointed me towards this tv. CNET.com is a great site to do your research on. If your concerned about the red tint on the border of the tv, dont be. It doesnt light up or anything (I thought it did) and it is hardly noticeable. Dont let that sway you one way or another.

The price on amazon is, as usual one of the cheapest around. There was one other site that was less expensive but I never dealt with that web site before and shipping was extra. When I purchased this tv from amazon it was only about [...]bucks more and the shipping was included. Also the shipping was white glove into my living room and actually arrived a day earlier then they promised! They did call me ahead of time to make sure it was okay they delivered early and of course I said yes.

5 Star product, with 5 star delivery.

If you want more information on the performance of the tv I’d advise you to check out cnet.com and do a search for the pn50a650. They also have a comparison between the Samsung and the Panasonic. Samsung wins by a mile.

Good luck and enjoy.

5 Stars Simply WOW!!
I purchased a Samsung 650 Plasma and was amazed.. Understand, I didn’t trust the internet purchase and was not sure if this was really the product I wanted. (LCD vs Plasma) No doubt the right decision. Process was safe with Amazon and the delivery Company was great.. The delivery company called to confirm the delivery, respectfully conversed with us, and pulled the TV out of the box, placed it on the table and showed me it was working as planned. Asked if I wanted the box or they would hold it for me. More about the the 650. Did I say WOW… I just wanted a tv I would be happy with and not regret my decision. LCD vs Plasma.. Tough decision. My co worker does this for a living and talked me out of a LCD ..Great move..Distance from the TV is 8- 18 feet. Love watching Football and Hockey. Great angle viewing and glare is not there. (I get alot of sunlight in the room) Sound is of good quality.

Bottom line, we all want a quality product and a good price. With the money I saved, I bought cables, wall mount and a power washer and still saved money compared to Best buy.. You will be happy with this decision!!!!

4 Stars Samsung 50 inch Plasma with Touch of Red
The TV is beautiful. I got it just in time for football season. The delivery people blew off our appointment and I didn’t get the Plasma until a week later.

5 Stars Beautifull TV
I have now had a month to view this TV and I must say I have no complaints. First, the delivery was flawless. The shipping company was on time, unpacked the TV, placed it on my stand and even took away the packaging. The viewing experience has to be experienced to be believed. I have an extensive DVD collection and also a smaller Blu Ray collection so I tried a good sample of both to get a feel for the quality of the display.

The Blu Ray disks are absolutely gorgeous. The Blue Planet disk showed the blue color as well as my old Sony. I always thought that Sony did the best job with color accuracy especially the blues but I must say this set matched Sony if not exceeded it.

I am very pleased with this plasma especially considering the reasonable price.

5 Stars Knew what to expect and still amazed!
This is a fantastic television, hands down. I already knew what to expect out of it since my parents have the same one in a 50″, yet as soon as I switched my Playstation 3 to output in 1080p my mind was blown. I haven’t watched a BluRay on it yet, but I’m certain it’s going to look amazing. The delivery guy was great, he opened the box and put it together and even helped me move my 140lb picture tube TV off of the stand and placed the new one in its place. Also don’t be discouraged by the negative feedback about the sound output. I didn’t get around to hooking my surround up to it yet, but we watched hdtv that we had recorded on the dvr and it looked and sounded great, I didn’t even have to turn it up as loud as my old TV (which is only about 3 years old anyway). So I highly recommend this TV to anyone looking for something of this size at a good price.

5 Stars Great looking TV with amazing picture
I have waited about a month and a half after receiving the TV before reviewing it to get a good read on it’s quality and features. To summarize, I am very pleased with it and would not hesitate to purchase again. The colors are rich and and the excellent contrast ratio on this model allows super-deep blacks and the whitest or whites. I have watched many blu-rays on it and have been overly satisfied with the picture.

If you are thinking about purchasing a plasma, nearly everyone will tell you that Panasonic is the way to go, and I can completely agree after comparing this TV with other brands I have seen. As for the plasma vs. lcd debate, that is much more of a personal decision. For the best picture quality, while ignoring other aspects such as size, price, power consumption, screen glare, and image retention, plasma seemed like the better choice to me, and without wanting to spend several thousand more on a Pioneer plasma, the Panasonic seemed like a great choice. Now, I am extremely happy I made that choice.

The only downside I have come across so far is that the screen can be fairly reflective if a strong light is on in the background. This model really shines in a darker room though. Image retention on it has not been a problem, as technology on plasma’s have improved to the point where it really isn’t much of an issue anymore. Regardless, I did use a break-in regime where I kept the contrast levels low and avoided any stagnant pictures for the first 100 hours. This also might be a concern for anyone planning on using the TV for heavy gaming, even though it does have a “game mode”, which is designed to prevent image retention and burn in.

The TV itself is a nice piano black color and isn’t nearly as heavy or thick as I expected it to be. Without reiterating the statistics of the TV, it has plenty of connections, including an SD card slot for pictures, and a PC connection.

The PC connection, an increased contrast ratio, and the C.A.T.S. system (adjusts the brightness and gradation to optimize contrast) are really the only differences between this model and the TH-46PZ80U model. For that reason, I would suggest also examining the price difference between the 2 models and decide how much more those features are worth to you.

5 Stars Great TV
A great TV. Strong Blacks, bright colors, you can ask for no more than this TV. Love it, love it, love it!

5 Stars Excellent value, great TV
I spent almost a year searching for an HDTV and this is the one that I ultimately went with. First off, the picture is phenomenal. You may read about “slight color inaccuracy” issues with this set on websites like Cnet, but my personal experience with it proves these to be correctable with a few quick tweaks and are very minor. In any case, the highly impressive black levels more than make up for any of these alleged shortcomings. If you are a Roku Netflix box user like myself, you’ll be glad to know that the 85U does a very nice job at displaying standard-def material as well. Before connecting the set to my Onkyo receiver, I previewed the on-board speakers and was very impressed by how full the sound was. Many sets suffer from tinny-sounding speakers, but I think most people would be very satisfied with the on-board sound. For those interested in using a surround sound receiver with the set, you’ll be happy to know that the included pedestal makes the tv sit high enough to clear most center channel speakers (important if you care about aesthetics like me). Buy this set with confidence, you won’t be disappointed.
