5 Stars Exceptional TV
My old CRT TV in the bedroom finally broke, so the opportunity to get a new flat screen arose. I already own a large Sony LCD projection TV for the family room, so I am used to Sony’s dependability and quality. I was not disappointed with this new one at all. It looks even better than my 60 in LCD projection downstairs. Very bright and vivid picture. You won’t be disappointed with it at all.
5 Stars Awesome TV
Rec’d my TV a few days ago, so far I love it. Its my first flat screen so I’m quite impressed. Has great sound and beautiful HD. My only complaint is the stand, its not adjustable and the TV isn’t perfectly level, for the money it should be of course. I did my own little thing and adjusted it myself, stand doesn’t swivel either. Other than that so far I’m pleased:)
5 Stars Love it!!!!
I absolutely love this tv. The picture on HD is amazing. For the price and not being the top of the line XBR, it surpassed my expectations. I always buy Sony and will never buy any other brand.
1 Star Disappointed with Amazon
Sony Bravia V-Series KDL-42V4100 42-Inch 1080p LCD HDTV
This review refers to service as opposed to product. I am truly disappointed with my Amazon.com experience and want others to be aware of what purchasing from Amazon really means. I was purchasing a TV for a new place and found Amazon’s prices attractive. What really sold me on Amazon, however, was their so called “white glove” service and price guarantee. I needed someone to unpack the TV and put it on my media unit and Amazon’s white glove service promises they will do this. The reviews on their website related to delivery were excellent and were a major factor in my decision to order from them. I made a special point of making sure that I ordered from Amazon.com and not one of their vendors. Much to my surprise, when I received confirmation of my order, it was coming from a vendor in California instead of Amazon.com. Of course, I was unaware that vendors use other delivery services such as Fedex, and Fedex is not allowed to open boxes or help the customer to set anything up.
My other frustration with Amazon was the price guarantee. After reading reviews about how good Amazon was about honoring price guarantees, I felt confident that should the price drop, they would honor it. Well, the price did drop but when I contacted Amazon, they said that because it was a vendor, they do not provide any form of price guarantee. The delivery dates were not accurate either, and as a result, because I travel, I won’t be able to set up my TV until after the holidays.
Needless to say, the overall experience was awful, and I would never order items of this size and value from Amazon again. Order from a local company such as Best Buy and you will get your TV on time, get assistance with opening and positioning it, and get a real price guarantee.
5 Stars WOW!!
I cannot believe the “steal” price I got on this TV. I hooked it up with the Bravia surround system and it was too simple. The picture is amazing. At first we were a little concerned it would be too big for our small room but we were wrong.

5 Stars LOVE IT
I owned a plasma for 4 years (zenith 42″ edtv) and I loved it… looked great, sounded great, etc. I tried for the past couple of years to upgrade to full hd to no avail. I tried a 50″ samsung (terrible color, horrific sound) and a 50″ philips (decent, but not “great”). This sony BLEW MY MIND. Great picture, great sound, great build quality. You can’t go wrong. JUST BUY IT
3 Stars Samsung 46 inch is much better
We purchased a Samsung 46L650 from amazon but due to the $ 200 cash rebate issue (they promised cash rebate which turned out to be a sport memoribilia rebate) we returned it and got this sony instead. Since we got chance to view both samsung and sony, I can see definitely that Samsung screen looks much wider and bigger as compared to sony. The picture quality was also better with samsung plus they are cheaper too. One good feature of Sony was that you get good sound system but overall samsung wins in the looks. Also make sure you buy a power surge protector with such big ticket items. Trust me its worth the extra cost.
Hope this helps!
5 Stars A perfect HDTV
We researched the HDTV’s & went several times to different stores to see the picture quality. This set is as near to perfection that we could find. The size is perfect for our room(12×11). The quality of color, vividness & definition allows you to see every crease & wrinkle on the face. Color is life like & sharp so that your experiencing almost a 3D quality. We purchased the set from Amazon getting the best price around. Shipping took longer than expected but the wait was worth it. I highly recommend this set over a Samsung (which was our 2nd. choice). The glass screen on Samsung reflected everything. Amazon’s white glove service set everything up for us so that we only had to sit & enjoy.
5 Stars Very Impressive
I am very impressed with the clarity of the picture. The colors are absolutely brilliant. Very happy with purchase.
4 Stars Never received this product.
I actually canceled this order in favor of a Panasonic plasma TH-46PZ85U.
This TV was one of the best I’ve seen in the stores, but I wanted a plasma for better fast-action displays.
I’ve come to conclude that even with plasma there is some blur because there is blur in the broadcast of most channels. ESPN, ABC, CBS, etc all have blur. This is due to the camera focus, camera motion, and even MPEG compression of the signal.
So don’t shy away from an LCD, especially with 120Hz refresh. Just make sure you check it out in a local store - let your eyes be the judge.

5 Stars Shopping around
After shopping around for several weeks - trying to find the best product for the best price (even at those stores claiming up to 50% off)
We found that the Sony “Bravia” HDTV LCD was the best choice for us. Amazon.com proved to be the most economical method and the fact that it would be delivered to our door, unpacked and set-up - ready to go, at no extra charge. We are extremely happy with our choice.
5 Stars Great TV, great value
First - We went with the free delivery choice, the TV was delivered in 3 business days, by a White Glove delivery team. They called to set up an appointment to deliver the TV and were on time. Second - Setup, it took my husband and adult son about 2 hours to figure out how to get everything working. Thank God we have children to show us how to work the remote! We love the TV. The picture is unbelievable, we watched a 3-D movie the other night and it was incredible. The speakers are fine - we will eventually upgrade to a surround sound, but that is just because my husband wants to, it is not really necessary.
5 Stars Completely Satified
I am completely satisifed with my purchase. The pricing I received was great on the 46″ Sony Bravia and to learn I would not have to pay sales tax or shipping was just icing on the cake. I ordered my Sony on a Satursday and the shipper had received the item and was ready to deliver it by Wednesday. I was very impressed with the delivery timeframe and the shipper. The delivery people were friendly and allowed me to take the time needed to assure my Sony was in perfect condition — and it was! I love my Sony Bravia and am VERY pleased with my overall purchase. I would definitely look at Amazon again when making a large purchase.
4 Stars OK so far
Set was delivered on time one month ago. Set-up was a bit unwieldy as the base is separate from the set (larger sets come with the base attached).
Initial picture quality was disappointing but was mostly due to the quality of the local broadcast signals (over the air). HD signals are great ! SD signals show more defects on these larger screens. Tweeking the picture is overly involved. I got help from discussion sites on the internet. Sound quality is acceptable but stereo effect is a bit weak. No glare, ghosting, or reflections from the screen which is why I chose this set over Samsung along with the TV guide feature which Samsung lacks.
Remote control is good, but I am using a much better Sony unit (RM-VL600) which can control eight devices and is a learning remote which can be programed using codes or signals from your current remotes. Less than $25 !
Great price from Amazon made this TV a good value.
5 Stars Sony Bravia V-Series KDL-46V4100 46-Inch 1080p LCD HDTV
The quality of this TV is outstanding. I searched numerous stores and many Web Sites to find a TV that had the quality I was looking for. I finally found it on Amazon.com. The price was unbelievable and to have it shipped, very expediently, with no cost was a plus. I have had this TV for just over a month now and have had nothing but good comments from all my friends that have came over to watch football and many other sports. The kids love the unbelievable color and clearness while watching all their cartoons on this TV. I recommend this TV to anyone looking for superb quality and defiantly recommend Amazon.com to anyone looking for a great deal.

I have been a TV TECH for 20 yrs was concerned with the blur of a lcd but with the 120 hz blur circuit there is no blur…. and I would say the search is over…

5 Stars Bravo for Bravia!!!
Purchased the 52″ Sony from Amazon, was going to buy one @ Sam’s but they changed models, this was the upgraded one, plus it was a better deal. Great Service and delivery, plus I purchased the Sony Sound Bar DVD and the IPOD Dock, It’s hung on the wall over my fireplace with the Soundbar underneath. What a system, it automatically selects the input device, functions are controlled by Sony Remote (Except for Direct TV, (bummer)) But I rate this 10 out of 10, and Amazon is the BEST, the other stores do not compare!!!!
5 Stars great tv
We spent a lot of time researching televisions before buying. (The reviews on Amazon were very helpful) The tv is great! We have a very bright room and there is absolutely no glare. The 120 Hz makes a big difference when watching football or hockey. The set up was easy. The delivery person was less than helpful, but we are really glad we bought this model.

5 Stars Fanstatic picture and sound
I’ve owned this tv for two months. HD channels have exceptional color and depth (to be expected), and standard channels come in clear as well. The sound on the tv is good.
TV has ports for just about any type of connection. Currently using it with HDMI to cable DVR box, RCA jacks for XBox connection, and RCA jacks to connect a VCR. Although the latter two aren’t HD devices the sound and color are good. Playing games on the XBox makes me feel like I am in the game as compared to the old Sony tube TV.
The delivery through Amazon was stellar. The shipment arrived 5 days ahead of the projected time listed on the site.
5 Stars great picture, but TV Guide is not good
The picture works great in a glarry room, the remote the whole family can use, etc. everything about this TV is great, except the TV Guide thingy. I have another digital receiver that displays generic non branded guide information. This branded ‘TV guide’ doesn’t work in my neigborhood. This is via antenna, not cable. It is sad to pay this much for a TV and the guide not work as well as our cheap digital converter box does. As my wife said, the information must be available, the Sony machine just doesn’t utilize it.
Sony, for those of us who live w/o cable or dish, could we just have a simple unbranded version of the guide? Its only software, how about an update?
5 Stars shipping
TV is great. Came in 3 days to cape cod from Amazon in PA. Box was in bad condition. There was a hole in it and the styrofoam blocks were crushed. Fortunately the TV is ok.
5 Stars Good performance and no adjustments necessary!
I have had this Sony for almost three months and am still happy with it. So far have not adjusted anything. The only problem I have had so far was that I lost the sound and had to reset my cable box and turn the Sony back on.
Pros: Picture on HD and Blu-rays is always good. Picture on DVDs up converted by blu ray player is also good. HDMI connections are very convenient (buy the Belkin HDMI Gold connectors from Amazon and save yourself a big box rip-off!). Most SD pictures are fine on the Sony Bravia XBR6.
Cons: Sound is a little thin. Menu response is slow. This unit is not thin by any stretch of the imagination.
Summary: all around performance that is easy to live with. A sure thing.
1 Star Great TV, misleading power specification
I’d agree with the five star ratings of most others if it weren’t for one thing. This TV is supposed to be Energy Star compliant (low standby power consumption) and Sony says the TV draws less than 0.1 watts in sleep mode. I have a power meter and test all new appliances and guess what? This TV draws an average of 15-20 watts when plugged in and supposedly off. (My meter isn’t that accurate at these low readings, but I’m confident it’s in that range.) Sometimes the meter goes to 0 watts, but that’s only for a short period of time after which it consumes about 20 watts. I suspect the problem is with the TV guide the unit gets from PBS stations, which would seem to require the tuner to be on, and 20 watts for that might be reasonable.
At roughly 25c/kWh that I pay for my last tier of power, that’s about $40 a year of wasted power and corresponding CO2. I tried calling Sony about this to find out if I had a defective TV, or as is more likely, the unit rarely goes to sleep due to the guide search or similar. Initially, they were helpful and said they’d look into it, but I’ve heard nothing in a month in spite of two emails (plus one just now). I also just wasted half an hour on the phone, mostly on hold. I give up on Sony helping with this, but wanted others to know of this situation.
On the positive side, I found buying through Amazon really enjoyable. I called the specialist number they list on the TV’s page to find out if there was a coax cable input, and they knew there was one even though the spec doesn’t mention it. The TV came within a few days of my placing the order.
